A2LA WorkPlace Training (AWPT) was established to offer both self-paced and instructor-led training, as well as consulting and contract services, to accredited laboratories and organizations seeking accreditation. For a successful learning experience, AWPT integrated training programs with real-world, organizational application and various levels of consulting services. In addition, AWPT’s instructors have broad ISO experience allowing them to expand not only into the accreditation sphere but also into manufacturing, research, and development communities—with the goal to better meet the quality management systems, measurement systems, and metrological needs of its members. 

November 14, 2019 

As an entity under an accreditation body, A2LA Training Services was limited to training in its offerings due to potential and perceived conflicts of interest from consulting services. This potential conflict is clearly identified in ISO/IEC 17011:2017—the standard to which A2LA and all ILAC-recognized accrediting bodies must conform. The Training Services division already maintained a staff of leaders in the ISO accreditation realm and had decades of testing and calibration laboratory experience to offer customers. A2LA Training Services separated from A2LA, rebranding itself as A2LA WorkPlace Training and officially becoming an independent 501(c)(3) organization to meet their customer needs. A2LA serves as AWPT’s preferred vendor for accreditation, but we support accreditation and certification services for other ILAC recognized organizations. 

March 31, 2020 

The first virtual AWPT class was held at a time when remote learning quickly became a critical necessity due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  

August 31, 2020 

AWPT rebranded with refreshed colors and an updated logo to distinguish itself from its preferred vendor, A2LA, and to further reinforce its independence as its own organization. AWPT retained the same mission and vision to assist customers on their journey towards accreditation, certification, and quality and measurement improvements.  

May 31, 2021 

AWPT was re-accredited to the new IACET:2018 standard to provide continuous education units to its participants who engage in its instructor-led courses.
